Partnership with Rensselaer Polytechnic
Students in LaQuita Love’s after-school cosmetology program at Abrookin Career and Technical Center have partnered with Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute to use computer software and 3D printing to design cornrow braiding styles in a marriage of two fields that they call “cos-computing.”
This innovative work is made possible by a grant from the National Science Foundation awarded to RPI. It allows students to learn the mechanics of computer programming and design and apply them to their work in cosmetology and beyond.
The students will be showcasing their designs using mannequins, computer simulations and 3D printed models.
