Emergency & Fire Management Services
This 10 week rotation will provide students with an opportunity to explore the role of citizens and in particular emergency and fire management services. This program is designed to provide students with the principles, theory, and practices associated with state-of-the-art fire science and management, including issues related to tactical fire operations, fire safety, firefighting and emergency services leadership and management, and community fire issues.
This 10 week rotation will provide students with an opportunity to explore the field of forensic science. Topics covered include crime scene and eyewitness basics, physical evidence, power of evidence, fingerprinting basics, impression evidence, hairs and fibers, chromatography, blood basics, forensic anthropology, forensic entomology, arson investigation, accident reconstruction, CRASH and a CSI adventure (a project-based-learning activity).
Homeland Security/Law Enforcement Services
This 10 week rotation will provide students with an opportunity to explore the field of law enforcement. Students will be exposed to the history, goals and career opportunities in the criminal justice system, ethics and professionalism in relation to the criminal justice system, constitutional and criminal laws at the federal, state and local levels, court systems and trial processes, the juvenile justice system, the correctional system, interpersonal and communication skills, and employability skills.
This 10 week rotation will provide students with an opportunity to explore the role of citizens and in particular the field of law. This course will provide a comprehensive study including the study of the American legal system as the foundation of American society by examining those laws which have an impact on citizens' lives and an introduction to fundamental civil and criminal justice procedures. Content should include, but is not limited to, the need for law, the basis for our legal system, civil and criminal law, adult and juvenile courts, family and consumer law, causes and consequences of crime, individual rights and responsibilities, and career opportunities in the legal system.
